The Egyptian Football Federation and the Pharaohs contingent will touch down in Nigeria on March 22 for the crucial 2017 AFCON qualifier against Super Eagles at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.
Completesportsnigeria.com sources in Cairo revealed that the country’s football administrators were initially divided over the choice ofMarch 22 or 23 as arrival date for the clash, but eventually settled for March 22.
The essence of the early arrival is to enable the Pharaohs to acclimatise for two days and get the feel of the pitch at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, our source revealed.
“Egypt FA now confirm its arrival date for the epic clash against Nigeria
“There were deliberations over the choice date but I can confirm to you that The Pharaohs will arrive Cairo on 19th of March and then fly to Kaduna on March 22,” revealed our source.
Also, the Egyptian football authorities have finally approved Kaduna Airport after making several inquiries on the safety status of the airport. The Egyptian airline authorities are also awaiting landing permit from Nigeria, which is yet to be approved by the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN)
Hector Cuper’s men lead Group G with six points from two games, and a good result against Nigeria in Kaduna will put them in pole position to qualify for the 2017 African football showpiece billed for Gabon, having missed out of the last three editions.
