–Despite Be’er Sheva 4-2 loss at Netanya
Nigeria and Hapoel Be’er Sheva of Israel goaltender, Austin Ejide has heaped plaudits on compatriots, John Ogu and Kayode Olrewaju for their goal scoring performances in the Israeli top league.
Ogu was on the scores sheet even as Be’er Sheva crashed to a 4-2 defeat at Maccabi Netanya on Saturday.
“It’s sad we lost but I must commend the impact of John Ogu who has continued to impress since he arrived”, Ejide told Complete Sports on Sunday from his base.
“Yes, he scored one of our goals against (Maccabi) Netanya. He has done so well since he joined us and everybody, the players, the fans have fallen in love with him”, Ejide added.
Perhaps, Ejide and his Be’er Sheva team could have left Winners Stadium with part of the spoils if not for fellow Nigerian Kayode Olarewaju who scored twice for the home side.
“Of course, I must not forget Olarewaju, we’re not in the same team but he’s doing great too.
“He scored two for (Maccabi) Netanya against us. I’m happy for him as a fellow Nigerian and wish him all the best”.
Be’er Sheva are third on the log and six points behind leaders, Maccabi Tel Aviv and five points behind second placed Ironi Kiryat Shmona with 23 rounds of matches so far played.
“We’ve to keep working hard so we can finish in the top two places so we can play in Europe again”, Ejide emphasized.
