Ejide Not Happy With Fans Reaction

–Says the team needs support to qualify for the AFCON 2015

Nigeria international goalkeeper, Austin Ejide says he was disappointed that some section of the team’s supporters booed the players on their return to the country from Sudan where they lost 0-1 in a 2015 African Cup of Nations qualifier played last Saturday.

The Nigerian team was also pelted with missiles at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja following their poor display in Khartoum.

The former Gabros FC first choice goalkeeper however called for calm, promising that today’s game will be different.

The Hapoel Be’er Sheva man insists he understands the sentiments of the fans but believes the African champions will come out better with a win against Sudan.

“In football, you cannot win all the time. We are not happy that we lost but we are calling on the fans to throw their weight behind us because we still believe we will qualify for the 2015 Afcon,” Ejide told supersport.com.

Ejide says he habours no ill feelings towards Enyeama despite the latter obviously limiting his first team opportunities.

“It happens like that, I don’t feel cursed to have been born in the same generation as Vincent.
“In life, it’s always good to have people that give you professional challenge and that is what he does.

‘It’s not a bad thing because in the end, you have to raise your game and it’s good for the team,” he said.
