Former Super Eagles forward, Efan Ekoku, is happy to see the team make a return to the Africa Cup of Nations finals following Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Bafana Bafana of South Africa , reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Gernot Rohr’s men clinched a place in the tournament billed for Cameroon next year after missing out on the previous two editions following the hard earned draw at the FNB Stadium, Johannesburg.
The Super Eagles were unlucky not to have won the game after two questionable offside calls denied them two more goals.
The result cemented Super Eagles position at the top of the table with 10 points while South Africa who are a point behind them occupy second place.
The Mediterranean Knights of Libya who defeated Seychelles 8-1 in Victoria also on Saturday occupy third position in the group with seven points, while Seychelles are on one point.
“Nigerian Super Eagles back at the Nations Cup next year, congrats boys, look forward to Cameroon 2019,” reads a tweet on Ekoku’s Twitter handle.
Ekoku was a member of the Super Eagles side that won 1994 AFCON title in Tunisia.
The Super Eagles will face Seychelles in their last 2019 AFCON qualifying match in March 2019.
Up next for the three -time African champions is the international friendly fixture against Cranes of Uganda on Tuesday at the Stephen Keshi Stadium Asaba.
