–Says Nigeria will dominate Africa again

Speaking after presenting a football trophy to the Abuja chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), the highly disappointed Director General said Eagles exit from the AFCON was a big lesson that will guide against a repeat in future.

“It is unfortunate we failed to qualify for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations but I can assure you that the Eagles will bounce back stronger. I can tell you honestly that we are not happy about it at all. Missing out of the next Nations Cup that we won in South Africa in 2013 was frustrating and unfortunate”, he lamented.

He said he is optimistic that with the programs being worked on now, things will definitely turn out well for a better future, adding that the set back is temporary and the future is bright for the country’s football.

Elegbeleye however refused to comment on the issue of the Super Eagles Chief Coach Stephen Keshi, the DG of the NSC disclosed that it is responsibility of the Nigeria Football Federation to hire and fire coaches. But the NSC would support the decision of the NFF on the matter.
