Former Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Emenike has revealed that he did not enjoy his five-month loan spell at Spanish side Las Palmas, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Emenike signed a short-term deal with Las Palmas in January from Greek club Olympiacos but failed to play a single game for the Spanish club due to a knee injury he sustained in training.
Las Palmas were relegated from LaLiga at the end of the season but the 31-year-old remains confident the club will be back in the top flight.
“To the people of Las Palmas. I chose to break my silence at the end of a sad footballing chapter of my life. It has been a dissapointing and heart breaking five months. I arrived with the hope to fight for the shirt,” Emenike wrote in a long post on his Instagram page.
“Unfortunately, the injury sustained while in Spain did not give me a chance to demonstrate the fight for the course. During this time, fake stories and rumors have been published. In all honesty, this is a diversion of real failures, I could expand and single out people.
“However, this will not help the course of Las Palmas. They know who they are. Pushing the negativity to one side, I want to thank the people of the island, they were always welcoming and looked after me like family in what has been a tough time.
“They always smiled and supported, I thank you. Their positivity was a comfort of a disastrous time.
“I thank you for been my Spanish family, Las Palmas is a beautiful place with lovely people. Las Palmas will be back. Adios.”
