English Clubs Reject Anelka

Nicolas Anelka is a proven goalscorer boasting both Champions League and European Championship winners’ medals – yet English clubs are reported to be only too happy to snub the Frenchman’s signature.

Having netted regularly for Arsenal, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea during his career, the Frenchman would no doubt be a decent acquisition for any club in the Premier League.

The player is said to be targeting a return to the country’s top flight, but unfortunately for Anelka, now 35, no one is willing to offer him a return to these shores, according to the Sunday Express.

During his last spell in the country, Anelka was infamously handed his notice by West Bromwich Albion after he was found guilty of producing an anti-Semitic gesture when celebrating a goal.
Not only did the FA fine him £80,000 and issue him a five-match ban, but Anelka was also ordered to undertake an educational course, which he has now completed.

Anelka, who has 157 competitive goals to his name, was recently playing with Mumbai City in the Indian Premier League, but is now seeking a new challenge after his contract expired.
A new chapter looked set to commence with Algerian club NA Hussein Dey.

However a deal was scuppered because local law states any foreign players wanting to play in the domestic competition must be under the age of 27 and a current international.
Anelka, therefore, is now mooting a move back to England, but any hopes for a return appears to be fading fast.
