Enugu Rangers have finally parted company with former home-based Super Eagles goalkeepr and captain, Chigozie Agbim, Completesportsnigeria.com
Also asked to look for job elsewhere is former U-17 and Flying Eagles goalkeeper, Uche Okafor.
Agbm was a regular invitee to the Super Eagles camp during the reign of Stephen Keshi as coach of the senior national team.
The former Warri Wolves goaltender even made the Super Eagles final squad list for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil after which he moved to Gombe United before returning to the Flying Antelopes following Gombe United's relegation to the lower league.
Similarly, Completesportsnigeria.com reports that Uche Okafor did not have a particularly good run at Rangers after joining the fold on the back of his 2007 FIFA U-17 World Cup feat under late coach Yemi Tella as well as a good run in the Flying Eagles in 2011.
The two goalkeepers were part of the 17 players considered to be surplus to requirements by the club and were summarily eased out in what clearly appears to be a house cleaning exercise.
"We retained only 18 players, the rest, about 17, were placed in thr transfer market," Foster Chime, spokesman of Rangers confirmed to Completesportsnigeria.com.
Chime did not disclose the identities of the players sent to the labour market but Completesportsnigeria.com checks at the office of the club revealed that Agbim and Okafor are the top players on the list of those sent packing.
"Agbim had lost his place in the team long before the season ended," offers an official who does not to be named in print because he was not authorised to speak for the club.
"Same goes for Uche Okafor who has not replicated his Golden Eaglets' and Flying Eagles performance since he joined us.
"As we speak now, Rangers have only two goalkeepers, Emmanuel Daniel who is with the U-23 Eagles in Senegal, and Itodo who stood between the sticks for us in most of the games last season."Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
