Enugu Rangers Sign Ex-Super Eagles Players Nwofor, Uzochukwu

Seven-time Nigeria Professional Football League champions Enugu Rangers have signed former Super Eagles forward Uche Nwofor till the rest of the season, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.


The Flying Antelopes have also announced the acquisition of midfielder Ugonna Uzochukwu on a short-term deal.

Nwofor and Uzochukwu are back for their second stints at the Enugu club following impressive spells in the past.

“We have signed on Ex- Super Eagles striker Uche Nwofor and Ugonna Uzochukwu who was part of the CHAN team in 2014 till the end of the season,” the club announced on their Twitter handle on Wednesday.

Nwofor, 26, played for Rangers in the 2010/2011 season before securing a move to Dutch club VVV Venlo.

He last played for Slovakia club AS Trencin where he scored two goals in 17 appearances.

Nsofor was a surprise inclusion in the Super Eagles squad to the Brazil 2014 World Cup, playing twice as a substitute as the team reached the second round. He last played for the Super Eagles in September 2014.

Ugochukwu, 26, first played for Rangers in the 2013/2014 season before moving to South Africa to link up with Chippa United after impressing with the home-based Super Eagles side that came third at the 2014 African Nations Championship in the country.

He last played for Moroccan club Olympique De Khourigba.

  • This Nwofor guy was tipped by my many to do great things.

    One can only read into this that the Nigerian Professional Football League is attractive high calibre players- which can only be a good thing for the league.

    Still Nwofor’s contributions to Under 21 football in Nigeria and his 2 goals against South Africa in a friendly match are still fondly remembered.

    With players like him in the domestic league, who knows, Nigeria may yet win the African Nations Championship (CHAN) in the not so distant future.

      Totally agreed. The late Steve Kachi appreciated his style of play so much.
