GOAL
VINCENT ENYEAMA

Former Super Eagles of Nigeria goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama did not have a clean sheet in his first Ligue 1 game of 2016 but still had a decent outing in Lille's 1-1 draw against OG Nice at home on Sunday.

Enyeama handled the ball 16 times and distributed the ball at the rate of 61.5%.

DEFENCE
SERGE AURIER

Ivory Coast and PSG right-back Serge Aurier was impressive in PSG's 2-0 win against Bastia in the first Ligue 1 game of 2016 on Friday evening at the Parc de Princes.

The defender bombed forward from his position to whip in four crosses and made two interceptions and four clearances.  He completed 48 of his passes (89.6%) and committed one foul.

ISSIAGA SYLLA

Left-back Issiaga Sylla is one of the Ajaccio defenders on the African Team of the Week.

The 22-year-old Guinean defender  assisted one of his team's goals in their 2-2 away draw against AS Monaco. He had 58.3% of his passes accurate and one won one aerial duel. Sylla had 54 touches of the ball.

He made three tackles, four interceptions and two clearances in the game.


KADER MANGANE

The second Ajaccio defender in the team is Kader Mangana. The 32-year-old Senegalese had an outstanding game throughout the 90 minutes he was in action.

The central defender made a tackle, seven interceptions and nine clearances. He committed two fouls and had three of his eight long balls to the opposition half accurate.


ZARGO TOURE

Senegal's Zargo Toure was a commanding presence in Lorient's central defence as they held Rennes to a 1-1 draw on Saturday.

Toure played for 90 minutes over the weekend and made three defensive interceptions. It was the 14th Ligue 1 game of the season for the 26-year-old.


MIDFIELD
MEHDI LACEN

Algeria's defensive midfielder Mehdi Lacen was in action for Granada in their 1-0 win against Real Betis on Saturday.

Lacen made great impact for his La Liga side in their slim victory. The north African star made four tackles and two interceptions. He committed four fouls and completed 53 passes which were 81.1 % accurate. The midfielder won three aerial duels and had 64 touches of the ball.


CHEIKH NDOYE

Senegal's Cheikh Ndoye was one off the outstanding players when his team, Angers, defeated Caen 2-0 at home on  Saturday as the Ligue 1 resumed over the weekend.

The big and powerful midfieldder was dominant in middle of the park as he won four aerial duels and completed 50 passes, two of them key in the team's search for goals.  Ndoye made one tackle, one interceptions and two clearances. He committed two fouls in the game.

Ndoye has had the most headed attempts in Ligue 1 this season, with 22.

KELECHI IHEANACHO

Manchester City underlined their desire to go for all three available titles this season after their Capital One Cup exit against Everton with an emphatic 3-0 defeat of Premier League opponents Norwich City in their 3rd round game on Saturday.

Nigeria's Kelechi Iheanacho scored the second goal for his team, in the 31st minute for the Citizens and slots into a withdrawn role in the African Team of the Week.

Iheanacho was substituted by Bersant Celina in the 75th minute.  Sergio Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne were the other scorers for the Blues.


ALEX IWOBI

Young Nigerian midfielder Alex Iwobi makes it into the African Team of the Week for the first time following his outstanding performance for Arsenal in their 3-1 win against Sunderland in the third round of the FA Cup on Saturday.

Arsenal manager handed the player a rare starting place and Iwobi who chose to play for the country of his father over England and duly capped  by Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh seized the opportunity to impress. He was in action for 67 minutes.


ATTACK
BROWN IDEYE

Out-of-favour Super Eagles striker Brown Ideye scored one of the goals for his Greek side, Olympiakos in their 3-1 win against Levadiakos in the Greek league on Sunday.

The 2013 African Cup of Nations winner grabbed the game's opening goal in the 16th minute, which was his seventh strike in 14 league matches this season.

Felipe Pardo and Alejandro Dominguez were the other scorers for the top Greek side on the weekend.

VINCENT ABOUBAKAR

Indomitable Lions of Cameroon forward Vincent Aboubakar scored a brace in Porto's 5-0 thrashing of Boavista on Sunday evening.

The striker netted in the 72nd and 81st minutes of the game to take his goal tally to eight in 16 Portuguese league games this season. He was however yellow-carded in the 51st minute.

The built-like tank striker played for 90 minutes over the weekend.
