Super Eagles skipper Vincent Enyeama has applauded the duo of Ahmed Musa and Daniel Akpeyi for their heroics in Sunday’s 1-1 draw against South African in an international friendly.
While Musa scored a stunning curler to hand the Eagles an undeserved lead in the game with five minutes left to play, Warri Wolves shot-stopper, Akpeyi denied Andile Jali from the spot after Godfrey Oboabona had felled Jali in the box and made three other saves to keep his side in the game.
However, the Lille Metrople goalkeeper who missed the encounter due to a back injury revealed that he was proud that Musa capped his day as skipper on the day with a goal.
“So proud of you (Musa). And congratulations for scoring your first goal as captain of the team and for leading the team out for the game. Well done,” Enyeama wrote.
He also admitted that the performance of Akpeyi has made him rethink on his retirement from the squad.
“You (Akpeyi) have joined Ejide in making me change my retirement date. Well done Akpeyi. I’m proud of you.” He concluded.
