–Eagles captain proud of 100 caps
Lille goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama has claimed that he relishes coming up against Ligue 1’s best strikers.
The Nigeria captain told Sl10 that he fears no striker, not even PSG’s superstar pair Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edison Cavani.
“Fear? I don’t fear any striker,” he said. “I would even say they fear me (laughs). They fear me because they know what I can do, so I don’t fear any of them. They are good strikers and we are all friends but I am not scared of any of them.”
Enyeama will be reaching a milestone next week when he wins his 100th cap as the Super Eagles face Uganda in a friendly in Uyo. But he is not reading any special meaning into the game.
He added: “The truth is, it is going to be just another game for me. Don’t get it wrong, I feel very proud of it and I feel very proud of playing for Nigeria. But the most important thing for me is to go out there and do well. So the 100 caps doesn’t really come to mind when I’m playing,it’s just the game. But I want to thank Nigerians for their support and love and encouragement towards me. And I hope to keep making them proud.
“It feels great but I still feel the same as the first day. The fire in me is still burning and I am still going on strong. But I must appreciate my family; my wife and kids for their support and encouragement over the years. It’s been great for me and I appreciate everyone that has encouraged me over the years also. It’s not been all smooth but I thank God for his grace and mercies over the years and with him I believe I can do great things.”
