Enyeama “Sad” At Failure Of “Talented” African Teams In Russia

Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama is sad to see all five African teams exit the 2018 FIFA World Cup at the group stage, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

The Terangha Lions of Senegal were the last team from the continent to be knocked out after they went down 1-0 against Colombia on Thursday.

Nigeria were four minutes away from booking a date with Argentina in the knockout stages before a late Marcos Rojo effort eliminated them from the competition.

North African teams Egypt, Algeria and Tunisia were all eliminated from the competition after two games.

“End of an ERA.what a generation of talented African footballers.4yrs is such a long time to wait for the next one.sad no African team made it through the group stage #FIFAWorldCup #Russie2018,” Enyeama tweeted on Thursday.

If Nigeria was in some of the groups, we would have survived the first round. Some comments here were insinuating that Senegal is the ‘only’ country to reach the second round but look how they messed up. If Nigeria was in that group and playing Columbia with a draw needed, we would have survived. Argentina is a football power with star players in top notch teams like Barcelona, Juventus, PSG, Manchester United, Manchester City, etc etc. This is why Gernot Rohr should be given more time to tinker with the team.

  • They were in an open group and after winning their first match everyone thought they had done well but they were exposed against Japan and finally Columbia. Those blaming our coach what will u say of their own would you still blame it on him? Over to you the blamers….
