Enyimba of Aba manager, Kadiri Ikhana and his strike sensation, Mfom Udoh can’t wait for today’s resumption of the Glo Premier League with the People’s Elephant scheduled to travel to Uyo for acrucial game with Akwa United.
Ikhana says the two time African champions are in no mood to spare foes as he says all opponents are expected to kiss the feet of the six-time league champions.
“We’re in the business end of the season and every game, every point counts right now”, Ikhana stressed as the team heads for neighbouring Uyo on Tuesday.
“Our approach right now is to take the games as they come, one game at a time. Every match is going to be tough at this stage and we’ve to be prepared for it if we must achieve our objectives.
“We’ve tried to let the players aware of this and we can only expect positive response in all the matches”.
Enyimba are third on the log behind leaders Kano Pillars with 43 points, Nasarawa United with 41 points and Ikhana believes his charges are withing touching distance with the defending champions.
“The race is still open, look at the table, the gap between leaders and the rest of the pack is not wide so with more efforts we can get there.
“That’s the reason we’ll swim and sink in Uyo, a good result there is important, as in other games because the season has reached the crucial stage”, the former Kano Pillars and Sharks gaffer said.
Toeing his manager’s position, league leading scorer, Mfom Udoh who joined Enyimba from Akwa at the start of the season said the Akwa United game is one match he would like to play.
“I want to play in that game, God willing, because it is another opportunity for me to go out and help my team,” the forward told EnyimbaFC.net.
“At this point every game is important so I want to play in all.”
“We haven’t played a competitive game in a while now so we have to approach the game with caution and try to get the maximum points.
“Like I said before, we do not want to drop points at this point in the season and will work hard to make sure we get good results at home and away.”
