–Wikki Seek End To Pillars Home Run; 3SC Target First Away Win
By Adeboye Amosu:
It will be fight to the finish when Enyimba confront league leaders, Sunshine Stars, in a match day 18 fixture on Wednesday at the Enyimba Sports Stadium.
The Peoples Elephant who saw their nine-match unbeaten streak ended by Warri Wolves who defeated them 2-1 at the weekend, will be desperate to get back to winning ways once again as they have failed to register a win in their last three games in all competitions.
They look good to end the drought considering Sunshine Stars’ poor record on their last three visits to Aba. The Akure Gunners lost all three and only scored once.
Kenedy Boboye’s side’s away form has also been questioned as they have recorded only one win on the road in this campaign.
But they will be keen to hold on to top spot at the end of proceedings on Wednesday having occupied the position on eight match days out of 17.
Second-placed Wikki Tourists, the side with the best away record this season having won three games on the road, will slug it out with Kano Pillars at the Sani Abacha Stadium in what is expected to be another exciting fixture.
The hosts are not in the best form at the moment having recorded just one win from their last five games.
It will be interesting to see if they will be able to extend their unbeaten home streak to 199 games or whether their northern rivals will put an end to it.
In Port Harcourt, struggling Dolphins will entertain in-form Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan.
The Port Harcourt Dwellers will be without their Ghanaian import, Godbless Asamoah in this encounter.
Asamoah, who is undoutedly his side’s best player so far this season, was issued a red card in their last game against Heartland which ultimately ruled him out of Wednesday’s clash.
Giwa FC, who who were completely outplayed by 3SC in Ibadan on Sunday, will look to bounce back from that humiliating defeat when they file out against Nasarawa United.
Sharks will seek to continue their redemption under interim coach, Festus Allen, when they entertain Abia Warriors at the Sharks Stadium.
Oghara Township Stadium will host Bayelsa United versus Rangers game, while Lobi Stars and Akwa United will keep a date at the Aper Aku Stadium.
Taraba United who have failed to register a win their last 15 games have another chance to end that disappointing run against Warri Wolves.
The last fixtures of the round will see Elkanemi Warriors take on Heartland, while FC IfeanyiUbah lock horns with Kwara United.
