Enyimba of Aba midfielder, Ikechukwu Ibenegbu has exclusively told Completesportsnigeria.com that his family is his greatest possession in his footballing career.
Ibenegbu, who has been capped by the senior national team, the Super Eagles, as well as being a veteran Super Sand Eagles ace with three Beach Soccer World Cup finals experience, says that whatever material gains he has acquired playing football does not compare to his family in valuation.
“I have gained or achieved a lot through football,” the soft spoken midfielder nicknamed “Mosquito” by his admirers told CSN.
“First and foremost, it’s my family. It is my most cherished possession. When I see them, whenever they are around me or I remember them, I feel happy.
“There are other things like cars, houses, lands and all that. But like I said my family comes first.
“I would say it is my greatest investment, asset or possession. The basic thing is that my family is happy and I’m proud with the little I’ve achieved”.
The graduate of Micro Biology, Imo State University, Owerri, is blessed with three kids, a girl and two boys.
“Would I encourage them to play football? Why not, if they chose to. But then, they must go to school because no matter what, knowledge is power and it offers you more value later in life,” the Ideato, Imo State born footballer who is based in Abakaliki said.
“Abakaliki is where we were born. My parents are still here. It is a small but quiet place, peaceful and I spend my off seasons here with my family,” Ibenegbu summed up.
