–Eagles star Egwuekwe debutes for Seasiders after World Cup
Enyimba International will welcome Warri Wolves in today’s Glo Premier League week 22 fixture at the Aba Stadium turf.
It has never been easy for the People’s Elephant against the invading Seasiders from Warri in past games. While Enyimba’s first win over the visitors dates back to February 19, 2012 in a 2-0 win, the hosts equally crashed 0-1
at Warri on June 3, 2012, a result that somehow balanced the two teams ego.
The two sides settled for scoreless draw in their home and away clashes last season, including another scoress draw in Warri on April 9, 2014 in their first meeting this term.
This sets the stage for an explosive but enthralling game today with Super Eagles defender, Azubuike Egwuekwe making his first appearance for the Warri side after the FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
Egwuekwe will replace Ike ThankGod in the Wolves backline. ThankGod is ruled out of this clash as a result of yellow card suspension having been booked in the games against El-Kanemi Warriors and Nembe city.
Egwuekwe has made two bench appearances for the Wolves since helping the super Eagles to a second round appearance at the World Cup.
Further coach John Igbogun, a former Enyimba gaffer, will miss the services of former Enyimba striker, Josiah Maduabuchi who is yet to recover from malaria attack.
Enyimba have gone unbeaten since the start of the second round of the league and coach Kadiri Ikhana could only look to extend that record.
KEY STAT: Enyimba have dropped only four points at home this term in a 0-1 loss to city rivals, Abia Warriors and a draw with Giwa FC. They have scored in virtually other home games.
EXPERT VERDICT: The strenght of Enyimba lies more in their attack and this could count for them once again in this one.
