Enyimba Stay Top Despite Giwa Shock, 3SC Floor Sunshine

—Warri Wolves Hold Nasarawa; Heartland Beat Rangers In Oriental Derby

Glo Premier League leaders, Enyimba, tasted defeat for the first time in 11 games but stay on top of the table after going down  to a 1-0 defeat against Giwa FC at the Rwang Pam Stadium, Jos on Sunday.
Charles Henlong scored the winner for the Jos Elephant in the 74th minute, converting a spot kick after Emmanuel Anyanwu handled the ball in the box.
Enyimba who  have failed to beat the hosts in their last three meetings put pressure on the home side afterwards, but Giwa now coached by their proprietor, Chris Giwa, stood firm to record a historic win.
At the Lafia Township Stadium, Warri Wolves cut Enyimba’s lead to four points after securing a hard fought 1-1 draw  against Nasarawa United.
The home side took the lead on the stroke of half time through Esosa Igbinoba, while Micheal Egbeta equalized for the Seasiders 11 minutes from time.
Wolves have now leapfrogged Sunshine Stars into second place and now look on course to challenge for the title.
Ten-man Sunshine Stars suffered a demoralizing 2-1 defeat to Shooting Stars in the South West derby at the Lekan Salami Stadium.
Former Sunshine Stars forward Cletus Itodo scored the curtain raiser for 3SC  in the 26th minute of the closely fought encounter.
The visitors were reduced to ten men few minutes later when Stephen Eze was sent off by the centre referee for delibrately handling the ball inside the box.
Wasiu Jimoh however missed the resultant penalty. Sunshine Stars capitalised on that with erstwhile 3SC player capiltalising on a defensive mixed up in the opposition box  to restore parity in the 39th minute.
Wikki Tourists sent Akwa United back to Uyo empty handed as they handed the Promise Keepers a 3-1 defeat.
Victor Yakubu opened scoring for his side in the 25th minute. Ukeme Davies levelled scores for the away side  five minutes after the break, but Mubarak Umar replied immediately to give Wikki the lead once again.
Ebenezer Odeyemi put the result beyond doubt when he scored the decisive third goal in the 79th minute.
In Ilorin, Kwara United boosted their survival hopes courtesy of a 1-0 win against Abia Warriors.
The Harmony Boys wasted a lot of goal scoring opportunities in the game  before Abubakar Salman finally scored the winner 10 minutes after the break.
FC IfeanyiUbah, coached by by ex- Super Eagles assistant coach Daniel Amokachi, recorded a 2-0 win at home to FC Taraba United who appear now to be losing the fight to escape the drop.
Heartland beat their Oriental rivals Rangers  2-0 in Owerri. Fortune Oniwari and substitute Chidiebere Ajoke got the goals for the Naze Millionaires.
The match was delayed for an hour after Heartland officials protested over the ineligibility  of three of their former players: Kalu Orji, Bobby Clement and Osas Okoro now playing for Rangers.
El-Kanemi Warriors beat Lobi Stars 2-1 in Katsina in the last fixture of the day.
