Pillars End Winless Streak; Rangers, 3SC Unbeaten Runs End

The top three sides in the Glo Premier League log failed to record a win on Sunday with Sunshine Stars maintaining their leadership position at the top of the table.
At the Aper Aku Stadium, Makurdi, Sunshine Stars were held to a one-all draw by Lobi Stars.
The Akure Gunners took the lead through Tunde Adeniji in the 64 minute. It was the talented striker’s seventh strike of the season.
The home side’s equalising goal came in the 70 minute through Tony Okpotu.
Second-placed Enyimba failed to capitalize on Sunshine’s draw in Makurdi as they were held to a 2-2 draw by local rivals Abia Warriors at the Enyimba Sports Stadium.
Warriors took the lead through Ndifreke Effiong in the 27th minute of the highly entertaining encounter.
Enyimba piled pressure on their opponents searching for the equalising goal and their effort was rewarded late in the second half when in-form forward Christain Obiozor pulled them level with his fourth goal of the campaign.
Kadiri Ikhana’s men took the lead for the first time through Daniel Etor in the 50th minute but they were denied victory 10 minutes from time when substitute Michael Olaha grabbed the equaliser.
Play was halted late in the game after fans pelted missles at one of the assistant referee for his raising his flag which led to centre referee cancelling Obiozor’s strike.
Wikki Tourists came close to securing their fourth road trip win but were denied the chance as their hosts Dolphins were awarded a late penalty by the centre referee which was coolly converted by Victor Ezuruike to make the scoreline 1-1.
At the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna, Giwa FC maintained their fine form by handing Heartland a 2-1 defeat.
Rangers and 3SC saw their unbeaten runs come to an end as they lost to Akwa United and FC IfeanyiUbah respectively.
Rangers lost 2-0, while 3SC fell 1-0 to their hosts.
Champions Kano Pillars halted a run of three games without a win by beating northern rivals El-kanemi Warriors 1-0 to extend their unbeaten run at the Sani Abacha Stadium to 198 games.
Sharks’ return to their home ground failed to yield any positive result as they were held to a goalless draw by Nasarawa United.
