Former Nigeria international,Etim Esin, has played down Alex Iwobi's lack of playing time at Arsenal, stating he still has time to fulfill his potentials, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Iwobi, 21, was an unused substitute for Arsenal in their 2-0 win against Southampton in the Premier League on Wednesday.
He has missed seven consecutive games for Arsenal, with his last game coming in a 2-2 home draw with Manchester City on April 2nd.
However, Esin says Iwobi will learn from his present situation at Arsenal.
"Iwobi is still young and he still has time," Esin tells Completesportsnigeria.com.
"Maybe the current formation might not suit him. Remember Arsenal were not doing well, so they decided to change their formation.
"Like I said, he has time. He is still in the early part of his career and I believe he has a good future. His situation right now is not what people should worry about.
"It might even be good for him because it might make him stronger so that when he is given the opportunity again he will prove himself."
Esin who was a member of the Flying Eagles squad to the 1987 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile, went on to advise Iwobi to work on his goal scoring ability.
He adds: "He hasn't been clinical enough in front of goal, and his final touch hasn't been good enough also. So if he can improve in these areas, it will be a big plus."
Iwobi was listed in Gernot Rohr's 25-man Super Eagles squad for a camping programme and a friendly game against Corsica in France this month.
He will join the team in France after Arsenal's FA Cup final against Chelsea on Saturday, May 27.
