–Ex-national team goalie demands more from Keshi’s men
Erstwhile Super Eagles goalkeeper, Greg Etafia says the team must improve on their peformance at last year’s African Cup of Nations finals in South Africa, to have any chance of making any meaningful impact at this month’s World Cup finals in Brazil.
Stephen Keshi’s side head into Brazil 2014 as African Champions after winning a third continental title in the land of the Madiba.
Stephen Keshi’s men are in group F alongside former World Champions Argentina, Iran and Bosnia Herzegovina.
The South Africa based goal kepper is hoping that the African Champions can progress further from the group stage as they attempt to have a memorable tournament in Brazil.
“The Super Eagles need to improve from their 2013 African Cup of Nations triumph if they want to do well at the World Cup in Brazil,’’ he begins.
“I’m very confident that the team would progress from the group that consist of Argentina,Iran and Bosnia Herzegovina.
The former Lobi stars of Markurdi star also urged the players to learn from the experience of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, where the Eagles got knocked out in the group stage.
“The players and the coaches should try as much as possible to learn from the mistakes of the last FIFA World Cup in South Africa, where the Eagles were knocked out in the early stage of the competition.
“We need to win our first game against Iran so as to be in a confident mood before our next game against Bosnia” insists Etafia.
