Etebo Buzzing Ahead Of Stoke City’s First Home Game Of The Season

By Adeboye Amosu:

Stoke City midfielder, Oghenekaro Etebo, is looking forward to playing in front of the home fans at the Bet365 Stadium, Staffordshire for the first time following his summer arrival at the club, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

The Potters will host Brentford at the venue today (Saturday) in their second Championship game of the season.

Gary Rowett’s men lost 3-1 to Leeds United in their first game last weekend.

Etebo, who featured for 63 minutes in the clash at the Elland Road linked up with Stoke City from Portuguese club, CD Feirense earlier in the summer.

The Nigerian who played in all of Nigeria’s three games at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia is eager to have his first feel of the Bet365 Stadium.

“Today is the first home game of the season. Really looking forward to playing in front of these amazing fans #EK #Potters #StokeCity,” Etebo wrote on his Twitter handle ahead of the game which kicks- off at 3pm Nigerian time.

  • Although Etebo was looking forward to this match, I find it really disappointing that the Super Eagles midfielder is starting from the bench.

With so many fans believing that he is “way too good” for the English Championship league, starting from the bench could probably start to temper expectations.

I for one have no problem with Etebo playing in the English Championship League, however, it will start to worry me if starting from the bench becomes the norm in Stoke City for the Afcon U-23 winner.
