Etebo Eagerly Anticipates English Championship Kickoff, Action With Stoke City

By Adeboye Amosu:

Super Eagles midfielder, Oghenekaro Etebo,  is looking forward to the start of the new English Championship season with Stoke City, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

Etebo linked up with the Potters who were relegated from the English Premier League last season from Portuguese club CD Feirense earlier in the summer.

The former Warri Wolves player has featured in three games for Stoke City since he joined the club for pre-season training.

“Back to (Football) ⚽. Preseason is going well with my new teammates. Preparing for the season ahead #Potters,” Etebo wrote on his Twitter handle on Thursday.

Stoke City will face Leeds United at the Elland Road, West Yorkshire in their opening fixture for the 2018/2018 season on Monday, August 5.

They will take on German club St Pauli in their final pre-season game on Saturday.

About Peter Oriaku

  • Etebo, I too am eagerly awaiting this season’s Championship kick off as it promises to be one to remember.

It is going to be brutal, gruelling and full of intensity.

I was having a look at the Championship league table earlier and at first glance, it almost looked like the Premier league table – there no less than 20 big teams there who have graced the Premier league in recent season.

The fight for promotion will be unforgiving and rewarding.

I also had a look of the calibre of players that Etebo will be rubbing shoulders with: Nacer Chadli, Jordan Ayew, Bojan Krkic, Wilfred Bony,Ahmed Hegazi, Martin Olsson – all national team players.

The league is also expecting more Premier league players to be loaned in.

It promises to be yet another competitive campaign and truly speaking : I can’t wait!

  • Also, Championship clubs are going to feature in Cup competitions that will also feature Premier League clubs: the FA Cup and the EFL Carabau Cup.

Etebo and Co should aim to cause major upsets against the Man City, Liverpool or Arsenals of this world.

Wishful thinking? We shall find out soon enough…

  • Etebo is one of our best midfielders at the the world cup, so strong physically, intelligent with ball under his feet with fantastic shooting skills.

It’s a pity such a quality will be starting this season in the English Championship.

We will be wishing the best.
