Former Super Eagles midfielder Etim Esin has admonished the Nigeria Football Federation to ensure that the lingering contract situation between them and Stephen Keshi is resolved before the kickoff of the 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifying matches.
Reacting to the draws held on Wednesday by the Confederation of African Football, the ex youth international told Completesportsnigeria.com that the Keshi saga could have an impact in how the Eagles fare in the qualification race.
“The Super Eagles matches during the qualifiers will not be easy. Hopefully, the team must have learned their lessons from the 2015 disappointment.
“The earlier early preparation start, the better. And what I mean is that the NFF must sort out the Stephen Keshi contract situation fast.
“If Keshi must continue as coach of the team, let it be done and over with; if not, let us have a new coach. We must not toy with this AFCON, this time,” Esin stressed.
Nigeria’s first game of the 2017 AFCON qualifiers will be against Chad on the weekend of June 12, 13 and 14, 2015.
