–Be’er Sheva visit RNK Croatia in tonight’s EUROPA League tie
Super Eagles reserve goalkeeper, Austin Ejide is on the line to make his European debut today as his Israeli club, Hapoel Be’er Sheva visit Croatian side, RNK Split, in this year’s UEFA Europa League clash.
Manager Elisha Levy listed his Nigerian import in his traveling party for Be’er Sheva’s first European competition outing just less than one week after the FIFA World Cup final in Brazil.
Ejide was part of Super Eagles squad at the Mundial but were bundled out in the second round following a 2-0 defeat by the Les Bleus of France.
“We’re in Croatia as we speak right now because we’re playing the first leg of the UEFA Europa League against RNK Split of Croatia on Wednesday (today)’, Ejide told Complete Sports from Croatia on Tuesday.
“It’s my first appearance in a European club competition and I’m very happy. I just pray things go well for us here so that we can get a good result going into the return leg match”.
The former Etoile Du Sahel of Tunisia and Bastia of France shot-stopper joined up with his Be’er Sheva teammates in Poland after short holidays in America just after Super Eagles ouster from the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
The match will hold inside the 4,075 capacity Stadion Park Mladezi, in Croatia with Be’er Sheva aiming to pile misery on Ivan Matic’s men right in front of their home fans.
“Everybody is in good shape, I was happy when I joined them in Poland and I was welcomed very well after the World Cup.
“Our focus is on the match because we want to get a good result that will lessen the burden on us during the return leg match back in Israel”, Ejide stressed.
