Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone says he has confidence in his assistant German Burgos to do a good job in his absence from the touchline in Wednesday’s UEFA Europa League final against Marseille in Lyon.
Simeone will be in the stands for the final following his sending off in the first leg semi-final clash against Arsenal at the Emirates.
While expressing his sadness for being suspended, he said he believes in Burgos to deliver.
“Although I’m sad not to be there, I have a great feeling with German,” Simeone said in his press conference on Tuesday.
“We know each other a whole life, and we understand football the same way.
“Against Arsenal the team moved well, and we are a team who have prepared a lot. I have faith in German.”
The former Argentina international adds: “We are playing another final where there is a lot of emotion and excitement but, above all, humility.
“When you play here, you need to have that attitude to work hard. Experience is important, but not decisive.”
Meanwhile, Marseille coach Rudi Garcia said he is determined to make sure his side land their second European trophy.
Marseille remain the only French side to win the Champions League, back in 1993, when they stunned AC Milan 1-0 in the final.
Victory against Atletico on Wednesday will make them the first French club ever to win the Europa League (no French club won it when it was called the UEFA Cup).
“This year we’re celebrating the 25th anniversary of being the first French side to win the Champions League,” Garcia said in his pre-match press conference on Tuesday.
“Now we have a fantastic chance to become the first to win the Europa League. We’re lucky to be at Marseille, a club which has a fantastic love affair with Europe dating back to the 1990s.”
“Today we can go down in history and leave an even bigger mark on this club.”Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
