Super Eagles stars Alex Iwobi and Ahmed Musa were in action as Arsenal booked their spot in the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League after holding their hosts CSKA Moscow to a 2-2 draw in the second leg of their quarter-final tie at the VEB Arena on Thursday.
The Gunners, who won the first leg 4-1, advanced 6-3 on aggregate.
The hosts led 2-0 courtesy of goals by Fedor Chalov and Kiril Nababkin but were pegged back by strikes from Danny Welbeck and Aaron Ramsey.
CSKA paraded Musa as a centre forward for the whole game, while his international teammate Iwobi was introduced by the Gunners in place of Alexander Lacazette in the 75th minute.
Spanish club Atletico Madrid also booked their spot in the last four despite going down to a 1-0 loss against Sporting Lisbon of Portugal.
Fredy Montero scored the only goal of the game in the 28th minute.
Diego Simeone’s men edged the contest 2-1 on aggregate.
At the Stade Velodrome, French club Olympic Marseille overturned a first leg 1-0 deficit to thrash German club RB Leipzig 5-2.
Austria’s Red Bull Salzburg were the biggest winners on the night, beating Lazio 4-1 to cancel their 4-2 defeat in the first leg.
They progressed 6-5 on aggregate.
