Europa: Umar Stars In Osmanlıspor Win; Simon, Esiti In Action As Gent Lose

Aminu Umar made his sixth appearance for Turkish side, Osmanlıspor, and he was on for 90 minutes as they defeated Spanish side, Villarreal 2-1 in Group L, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

The Turkish side now lead the group with seven points and are closely followed by Villarreal on five points.

In Belgium, Nigerian internationals Moses Simon and Anderson Esiti were both handed starting roles in KAA Gent's 5-3 home loss to Shakhtar Donetsk. 


Kalifa Coulibaly gave the former Belgian champions a first minute lead but a Marlos' spot kick restored parity. Goals from Taison a brace Taras Stepanenko and other strikes from Fred and Facundo Ferreyra.
But Gent  pulled back two goals from Jeremy Perbet and Danijel Milicevic.

Brown Ideye was an unused substitute for Olympiacos who forced Astana to a 1-1 draw. Seba's 29th minute earned the Greek Champions a share of the spoil from the encounter after Djordje Despotovic gave the host an early lead in the eight minute.

The draw sees Olympiakos' move second on the log in group two points after leaders APOEL Nicosia.

In Prague, John Ogu was left on the bench for 90 minutes as Hapoel Beer-Sheva lost 2-0 to Sparta Prague. His compatriot Anthony Nwakeame was left out of the squad that traveled to Prague.

The win sees Sparta move up top in Group K with seven points while Hapoel Beer-Sheva remain third with four points.
