Nigerian duo, John Ogu and Anthony Nwakaeme were on target as Hapoel Be’er Sheva rallied back from two goals down to earn a 2-2 home draw against Apoel Nicosia in the first leg of their Europa League third qualifying round fixture on Thursday, reports Completesportsnigeria. com.
Nuno Morais and Guilherme Augusto fired Apoel ahead in the encounter played at the Yaakov Turner Toto Stadium, Be’er Sheva.
Ogu reduced the deficit for the hosts three minutes before the break.
Nwakaeme, who was yellow carded in the 63rd minute netted the equaliser seven minutes later.
At the Station Pud Dubnom, Zilina, former Nasarawa United forward scored for the third second consecutive game in the competition as Slovakia outfit, AS Trencin thrashed Feyenoord of Netherlands 4-0.
Azango scored Trencin’s third goal of the game, while Antonio Mance hit a a hat-trick for the side.
Two other Nigerian, Reuben Yem and Abdul Zubairu featured from the start, while Emeka Umeh was an unused substitute.
In another encounter, Taiwo Awoniyi featured for 69 minutes as Belgian club, Gent won 1-0 away against Jagiellonia Bialystok of Poland.
Blessing Eleke fired blanks as his Switzerland outfit , Luzern fell to a 3-0 away defeat against Olympiacos of Greece.
