Dan Evans will play for Great Britain in Friday’s Davis Cup tie against Uzbekistan for the first time since his drugs ban. The 28-year-old was banned for 12 months after he failed a drugs test at an ATP event in Barcelona in April 2017.
He confirmed that cocaine had been found in his washbag and Evans has since been sat on the sidelines as a result.
His last appearance in the Davis Cup was against France in 2017 but he will now be hoping to move on after a tough 12 months.
Evans is now back to 222nd in the world after winning a Challenge Tour event in Vancouver in August.
He will be joined in the team by Cameron Norrie and Jay Clarke, while doubles specialists Jamie Murray and Dominic Inglot are also included.
Andy Murray will miss the match to continue his return from hip surgery, while Kyle Edmund also sits out as he recovers from tonsillitis.Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
