By James Agberebi:
Former Spain and current Libya national team coach Javier Clemente has tipped the Super Eagles to rival Algeria for their group’s sole 2018 FIFA World Cup ticket.
The Eagles are drawn in Group B alongside Algeria, Cameroon and Zambia in Africa’s final qualifying round.
Clemente’s team, Libya, are in Group A with Tunisia, DR Congo and Guinea.
In a chat with FIFA.com, Clemente who was in charge of Spain when they lost 3-2 to the Super Eagles at the France 1998 World Cup, however stated that he is more concerned about Libya’s chances of qualifying for the World Cup than worrying about what happens in the other groups.
“I haven’t taken a look at the other sections and I don’t know anything about them,” he said.
“I’ll have to take a look, though I have to say I’m not that interested in the other sections. What I’m interested in is Libya’s group.
“I’ve started to do my research on Congo DR, Guinea and Tunisia. That’s what my objective is.
“If you’ve got Morocco and Algeria in the same group, then they’re both good sides, though one of them has to get knocked out. If you ask me, Algeria’s main rival in their group is Nigeria.”Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
