Ezeji: I’m On Dolphins Rescue Mission

By Sab Osuji:

Nigeria League veteran, Victor Ezeji, has posited that his decision to rejoin Dolphins of Port Harcourt this mid-season was informed by his desire to help rescue the team from the brinks of relegation.

“I’ve played for the club before, won several titles with them and still have Dolphins blood in me. So anytime I’m called upon to help out, why not,” Ezeji told completesportsnigeria.com.

“The club is not in the best position in the table to depict its quality and potential, especial given the fact they've  won the league title several times in the past.

“So I believe at this their trying moment one has to give one's best to ensure the club survive relegation this season.”

Ezeji won the CAF Champions League back-to-back with Enyimba in 2003 and 2004, and won league and federation Cup silverware with Dolphins.

He believes the team’s survival is the collective responsibility of the entire squad who should display commitment, hard work and dedication.

“It’s not impossible, we’ve spoken to one another on the need to give our 120% and I’m sure if this is done, Dolphins will retain their Premier League status at the end of the season,” Ezeji added.

Ezeji has put in 20 years in the Nigeria league and had earlier declared he would quit the stage for younger players at the end of the season.

“Yes, that was my decision before and I hope to see what happens at the season. The end, they say, justifies the means,” he added.
