–Standard Liege star eyes Europa League slot
By Babatunde Alao:
One cap Super Eagles forward, Imoh Ezekiel will be looking to return to the winning ways with Standard Liege today as they play host to Club Brugge in the ongoing Belgian Jupiler League Play-Off I (otherwise known as the Championship Play-Offs comprising of the top 6 teams during the regular season and through which the league winner will emerge).
Liege has faired badly since the commencement of the Play-Offs winning only one match in their first five games which has seen them rooted at the bottom of the 6-team table. And having lost their last 3 successive games, Ezekiel and his teammates must make home advantage count against Club Brugge who are currently on top of the Championship Play Offs table. The visitors has played 4 games recording two wins, one draw and one loss.
With their title hopes almost in tatters, Liege also need to amass as much points as possible in their remaining games if they hope to finish with enough points to merit at least an Europa League play-off slot. It will be recalled that Ezekiel staged a loan move return to his former Belgium club during the last transfer window after a stint with Al Arabi in the Qatar Stars League. He has since scored 4 goals in 9 games.
