Anderlecht’s Sporting Director Herman Van Holsbeeck has hinted that they will drop their pursuit of Nigerian petit forward Imoh Ezekiel after admitting they cannot afford the wages of the Nigeria international.
Ezekiel who has been linked with a loan move to the Europa League campaigners is desperate to play in Europe in the coming season following the expiration of his loan spell at Standard Liege and Holsbeeck who sees the 21 year old as a perfect addition to the club admits the loan fee isn't affordable for the club.
"When a player of Ezekiel quality is available, Anderlecht will be on alert," he says.
"We were really interested in Imoh, but he is not feasible for us, nor rent, nor outright purchase. We cannot pay those prices," Herman Van Holsbeeck told Belgian website www.hln.be.
Meanwhile, Anderlecht’s coach, Besnik Hasi sees Ezekiel as an ideal addition to his side considering the 4-4-2 system he plays.
“The Nigerian star is good value for money and will be good for us,” Hasi was quoted.
Ezekiel who scored six goals and provided three assists in 13 games has also been linked with a return to Standard Liege. There have been reported moves by Fenerbahce and two unnamed German teams.
