Nigeria forward Kelechi Iheanacho came off the substitutes bench to score his seventh goal of the season after seven weeks on the sidelines for Manchester City as they qualified for the quarter-finals of the English FA Cup with a 5-1 victory over Huddersfield Town 5-1 in a replay fixture at the Etihad stadium on Wednesday night, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
A brace from Sergio Aguero and goals from Leroy Sane, Pablo Zabaleta and Iheanacho sealed a comfortable win for Manchester City after Harry Bunn had shot the visitors into the lead.
The Super Eagles forward, who has been called up for this month’s international friendlies against Burkina Faso and Senegal, replaced Sergio Aguero in the 79th minute of the encounter and made it 5-1 for the hosts.
City set up a clash against Middlesbrough at the Riverside in the quarter-finals of the competition on Saturday 11th March, 2017.
It was his 21st appearance in all competition for the Citizens.
Harry Bunn who came through the ranks at City fired a low shot past Claudio Bravo to stun the hosts with a seventh minute opener after a good counterattack by Huddersfield.
The hosts responded to the early setback with Kevin de Bruyne firing a free-kick on target but Huddersfield Town goalkeeper Joel Coleman gathered after initially spilling the shot in the 16th minute.
But after relentless pressure, City levelled scores, Sane tapping in Raheem Sterling low cross from the right flank in the 30th minute.
Pep Guardiola’s side doubled the lead from the penalty spot after Sergio Aguero was bundled to the floor in the box by Jon Gorenc-Stankovicas he tries to reach a cross.
The Argentine forward stepped up, side-footing the ball high and right into Coleman’s net as the keeper dived the other way in the 35th minute.
Pablo Zabaleta made it 3-1, firing in a rebound effort from Aguero eight minutes later.
