Harry Kane scored hat-trick for Tottenham Hotspur who cruised to the quarter-finals of the English FA Cup with a 3-0 thumping of Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday.
Kane scored a goal in the first half and bagged a brace in the second half of the game as Spurs banished their 1-0 Europa League loss away to Gent last Thursday.
Nigerian forward Sone Aluko, making his 35th appearance in all competitions for Fulham this season, played for 66 minutes before he was replaced by Gohi Bi Cyriac.
Kane shot Spurs into the lead in the 16th minute, tapping in Christian Eriksen’s cross from six yards after a nervy start for the hosts.
Eriksen could have doubled the lead but failed in the 25th minute after he was teed up Kane but the Danish playmaker blasted his shot over the crossbar.
In the 28th minute, Harry Winks had the ball in the net for Spurs but the goal was ruled out as Kane in an for offside intercepted with play.
Spurs pressed harder for the second goal and Fulham had Marcus Bettinelli to thank as the Mauricio Pochettino led side could only score once from the 12 shots they had on target.
In the second half Fulham switched off and they were put to the sword. In the 51st minute, Eriksen exploited space on the right flank and his cross for Kane was tapped in from close range for his second in the game.
Kane wrapped the game up for Tottenham after racing on to Dele Alli’s clever pass to beat Bettinelli from 12 yards to expose the Fulham defence again.
In the 81st minute former Spurs’ midfielder Scott Parker had a great chance score a consolation goal for Fulham but his header was well saved by Michel Vorm even if his effort was adjudged to be offside.
