Chelsea will win the Premier League title if new boys Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa perform, according to former Blues forward Tony Cascarino.
Former Arsenal midfielder Fabregas became manager Jose Mourinho’s first signing of the summer, when he completed a £27m switch to Stamford Bridge in June.
Fabregas’ Spain team-mate Costa joined him at Chelsea from Atletico Madrid in a £32m deal following a dismal World Cup in Brazil for their nation.
And Cascarino is confident Chelsea’s new boys can guide his old club back to the pinnacle of English football.
“The difference if they win the title is going to be their two new signings up front – it’s going to be Fabregas and Costa,” he told talkSPORT.
“If they are successful in performing and replacing what [Didier] Drogba and Lampard gave Chelsea, then they will win the league. There is no doubt in my mind they will win the league if those two perform.”
“It’s a real smart one signing Fabregas,” Cascarino added.
“He gives them something different because it’s a guy who’s got a bit of a point to prove. Arsenal fans will tell you how good he was for them.”
