Cesc Fabregas faces a race against time to be fit for Saturday’s Premier League showdown against Manchester City after limping off in Chelsea’s Capital Cup semi-final with Liverpool.
The midfielder collided with Blues team-mate John Terry at the beginning of the second half at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night and was unable to continue.
Fabregas was replaced by Ramires in the 50th minute and headed straight down the tunnel to receive treatment.
Filipe Luis was also withdrawn late on and replaced by Cesar Azpilicueta as the injury problems mount for Jose Mourinho.
The Blues boss will be keeping his fingers crossed the injuries to the duo are not serious ahead of the visit of the champions at the weekend.
Chelsea go into the game top of the table, five points clear of their rivals, with 16 games remaining.
