Nigeria’s U-20 Women team, the Falconets play Germany tomorrow in the FIFA World Cup, after defeating Korea DPR and France Respectively.
The coach Peter Dedevboh tutored side carried out a ruthless demolition job on a Korea DPR side fresh from unseating the defending champions.
The Falconets now have to dust themselves up and target a win against the former Champions.
Nigeria U-20 team have a history of doing well in this competition, having finished third in 2012, second in 2010, and reaching the quarterfinals in 2008,2006 and 2004.
The Falconets lost 2-0 against host Germany in 2010 World Cup, courtsey of an Alexandare Popp brace.
So, just making it to the finals at this event will not really be viewed as a success for the West African team, who is looking to take that final step and win their first title.
The topscorer for the West African side, Asisat Oshoala, with seven goals, said the team would work extra hard to avenge the loss in Germany four years ago.
“We are going to prepare really hard against the Germans who defeated us four years ago.
Coach Dedevboh will hope the electrifying trio of Oshoala, Courtney Dike and Ugo Njoku improve on their outstanding display in the tournament.
Montreal, meanwhile, witnessed a very different kind showdown of as two European heavyweights contested arguably the most engaging and unpredictable contest of the tournament thus far. And while France dominated and created by far the better of chances, Germany’s clinical finishing and legendary will to win saw them through to what promises to be a classic final.
