The Super Falcons suffered a setback ahead of the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada at the weekend as they were beaten 2-0 U-23 side, Dikko Football Club in a tune up game played at the FIFA Goal Project Pitch, in Abuja.
Falcons began the game brightly by piling pressure on the physically advantaged Dikko FC but the likes of Ngozi Okobi and her teammates fluffed several scoring chances.
Dikko FC took control of the game and went into the lead in the 35th minute from a counter attack. Dikko went further ahead in the 40th minute when goalkeeper Whyte Ibubeleye could not clear her line properly.
The second half saw the Falcons coming close to reducing the tally but ageless striker Perpetual Nkwocha failed to connect a floater while substitute goalkeeper Precious Dede’s heroics ensured that the Dikko boys did not score more goals.
Reacting after the match, Super Falcons Chief Coach Edwin Okon expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance adding that it was not about winning but about seeing the girls apply what they learnt in training.
“They scored their two goals because our girls made some mistakes. We have taken note of the mistakes and we shall correct them.” he explained.Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
