By Adeboye Amosu: Nigerian forward, Fanendo Adi, was on target as his Major League Soccer outfit Portland Timbers beat Minnesota United 3-2 at the Providence Park on Sunday morning (Nigerian time) to record their first win of the season, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
It was his first goal of the season after he fired blanks in five previous outings.
The hosts scored two quick goals in the 20th and 23rd minutes through Alvas Powell and Diego Valeri, while Carlos Quintero reduced the deficit for Minnesota United 26 minutes from time.
Adi restored Timbers’ two-goals advantage in the 74th minute after he was set up Christian Paredes
Bill Tuiloma’s own goal nine minutes from the end
gave the visitors a glimmer of hope but they were unable to find the equaliser.
Timbers, who had previously amassed two draws and three defeats from their opening five games of the campaign now sit in 11th position in the 12 teams Eastern Conference table.
Adi, who has earned call-up to the Super Eagles in the past but is yet to win an official cap for the three-time African champions has featured five times for Timbers this season.

Anyhow one look at it, Adi deserves to be among those to be called for inclusion to Russia by Rohr, IMO.
Adi deserve a call from coach Rohr but I am very sure that the coach will never call him simply because Adi is playing in MLS. For me, League you play in doesn’t matter some times. The set of 94 Eagles doesn’t played in higher leagues still, they rule the world then. Therefore, no excuses from Mr. Rohr and politics plays a lot in anything we do in Nigeria. Adi, Dessers, Onuachu and co, so sorry that these people might not let you guys prove your worth before the world cup. Even if they call you to camp, they will give you 2 to 3 minutes of play, like they did to Kayode and Osemeh. They know what their doing. They already knew their candidates for world cup. Let me stop here because 9ja people doesn’t like to hear the truth. Therefore, no paint no gain. The time Will tell. Fingers crossed. God bless us all. God bless Nigeria!!!
Rohr has invited him before now. I don’t like his style as well. His goals are too easy and not classy at all. Odion Ighalo is more rugged and better, though not the best. The world cup is for skillful, rugged and overall strikers
Cyriel Dessers was also on target as his team Utrecht Fc lost 3-1 away to Feyenoord!
What goal are we talking about that Odion has actively scored for Nigeria since that goal he scored against Cameroon in a 4-0 crushing ? Please can some one tells me something l don’t know.
Odion is nt a complete striker we nid people like kayode, ajayi people who can put pressure on defenders nt ighalo that fall always…..proud of u @OMO9JA….ONE9JA.
