Farah – I’m A Lot Fitter

Mo Farah says he is better prepared for a marathon than ever before ahead of his run over the 26-mile distance in Chicago next month.

The four-time Olympic gold medallist has switched to road running after ending his track career last year.

His next attempt at the marathon will come in the Windy City on October 7 and he warmed up for that with victory in Sunday’s Great North Run on Tyneside.

Speaking after the success, his fifth in the event, Farah turned his attention to Chicago.

He said: “Training is different as a road runner. I do a lot more long runs and intervals for Chicago. In terms of endurance, I am a lot fitter.

“Usually I run the Great North Run at the end of the track season but this time it’s part-way through a marathon preparation and I’m on the up.

“Training’s gone well in Flagstaff in the last six weeks and my aim now is to stay injury free and focused.”

Chicago will be Farah’s third career marathon and his first outside London, where he set a new British record of two hours, six minutes and 21 seconds in finishing third back in April.

Farah will go up against his former training partner Galen Rupp, the American who is defending the title he won last year, as well as former champions Abel Kirui and Dickson Chumba of Kenya in Chicago in four weeks’ time.

This is the painfull and annoying. A site I once loved and cherished because it was dedicated to Nigerian sports news and the only place I couldn’t it has followed suit to hype and become international. If I want international sports news I know where to get it. I noticed the comments has reduced as well meaning fewer people are coming here to get news. Yes you may get some more views due to the stories you post but very few people will come back again. It is better to be a master of a skill than an master of non. How many people in the world would go to a site termed completesportsnigeria for international news. Please do yourselves a favour and go back to being Nigerias top sport site rather than the 300 milliont world sport site. Please.

@Akindele, you are right. That is Nigerians for you. They don’t know their value. I’m pretty sure that none of us would stay on this site anymore but we still have some places that has Nigerians sports news though. God bless Nigeria!!!
