Former Wimbledon FC of England striker John Fashanu is canvassing for a massive support to be shown Nigeria’s Super Eagles at the World Cup.
The 20th edition of the World Cup kicked off in Brazil on Thursday with Brazil, the hosts thumping Croatia 3-1.
Fashanu, a member of the famous Presidential Task Force that oversaw the Super Eagles’ preparation 2010 World Cup campaign spoke with Completesportsnigeria.com
“There have been both commendations and criticisms of Stephen Keshi and his team, but what they need now is the support of all Nigerians as they set out to represent the country.
“It’s not going to help putting the team under undue pressure. Nigerians have got to show that they appreciate the work being done by Stephen (Keshi).
“He (Keshi) has brought a lot of discipline and organisation in the team and I believe that in Brazil, they will give us good representation,” Fashanu, who is billed to work as TV pundit for the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON) in association with Nigeria’s terrestrial TV channels stated.
The Eagles’ first game is on Monday June 16 against Iran.
