–Serena Williams to head tennis department
Former Wimbledon of England forward, John Fashanu has revealed he has floated a world class sports academy in Abuja, Nigeria.
Fashanu said the academy has an estimated cost of N10billion and that he has acquired 10 acres of land in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, for the project.
He disclosed that the project will be commissioned in March by President Goodluck Jonathan.
“It’s called Goodluck Fashanu International Sports Academy”, the erstwhile striker said.
He further stated that the academy is fashioned to be the best of its kind in Africa and will have the biggest names in different sports to head each of the sports departments.
“I want to let you know that Serena Williams will head the tennis department of the Goodluck Fashanu International Sports Academy.
“Similarly, Nwankwo Kanu, myself and Austin Jay Jay Okocha will head the football department and the same applies to all the other areas.
“This shows the class and quality of the sports academy we’re talking about here and every paper work has been concluded and the ground breaking ceremony by way of commissioning will be done by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Goodluck Jonathan in March”, Fashanu explained.
