–Stanley Eguma shifts attention to cup game after Pillars defeat
Dolphins of Port Harcourt say they are shifting focus to Thursday’s Federation Cup semi final clash with Prime FC after Sunday’s 1-0 win over Kano Pillars in the Glo Premier League.
The cracking game with the Omoluabi Giants has been slated for the Goal Project of the Abuja National Stadium.
Dolphins have appeared in the Federation Cup semi finals six times in the past and have only lost once, in 1993 against Plateau United. The game ended 4-1.
Since then, Dolphins have played the semi finals in 2001, beating Enyimba 2-0, 2004, Dolphins beat Julius Berger 3 -0 in Kaduna, 2006, Dolphins beat Niger Tornadoes 1-0 and in 2007 Dolphins beat Sharks 4-2 on penalties after full time ended 2-2.
All four times Dolphins won in the semi finals, they had gone ahead to win the Cup and believe overcoming Prime on Thursday will mark a remarkable journey to lifting their fifth Federation Cup silverware.
Coach, Stanley Eguma insists Prime will not stop the ambition of his side.
“We are working hard for victory and we do not see Prime as one that will stop our road to the final,” Eguma said.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, a 23rd minute strike from Emem Eduok ensured Dolphins ended the eleven game unbeaten run of champions, Kano Pillars.
