Roger Federer has been impressed by Novak Djokovic’s recent form but he believes there is still more to come from the Serbian.
Both players are preparing to get their US Open campaigns underway this week with Federer set to face Japan’s Yoshihito Nishioka on Wednesday, while Djokovic will come up against Hungary’s Marton Fucsovics 24 hours earlier.
The two former champions are on course to meet in the quarter-finals at Flushing Meadows and Federer has been impressed by the recent form of Djokovic, who has claimed overall glory at Wimbledon and the Cincinnati Masters over recent weeks after recovering from a long-term elbow injury.
However, the Swiss ace, who is chasing his first US Open title since 2008, believes there is still more to come from Djokovic, which could be ominous for the rest of the ATP Tour.
“I think he probably still has more left in him,” Federer said of Djokovic. “I think he’s playing well, but I think he can even play better.
Federer remains unfazed about potentially coming up against Djokovic in New York, as he knows he has to beat the best players if he is to challenge for another Grand Slam title.
“In terms of the draw, I mean, we have so many draws that happened throughout my career that you just take it on your chin and you’re, like, ‘Okay, fine, that’s what it is,” Federer added.
“We can’t control it. I’m not in a quarter-final match yet. I’m not in a second-round match yet. You just go back to – just the next few days are important.”Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
