Roger Federer is through to the semi-finals of the Shanghai Masters after beating Kei Nishikori in the last eight. Defending champion and top seed Federer overcame Japanese star Nishikori 6-4 7-6 (7-4), battling back in the second set from 4-1 down in the tie-break.

The 37-year-old will play Croatian Borna Coric in Saturday’s semi-final with a place in Sunday’s final up for grabs.
Coric, who beat Federer in the final of the Halle Open earlier this year, made it through to the semis after a 7-5 6-4 victory over Australia’s Matthew Ebden.
Saturday’s other semi-final sees Serbian Novak Djokovic take on Alexander Zverev after the former beat South Africa’s Kevin Anderson in a rematch of this year’s Wimbledon final, while Zverev knocked out British No.1 Kyle Edmund.
