FG TO FIFA: Amaju Pinnick-Led NFF Is Our Recognised Body

Nigeria may likely escape sanction from FIFA after the federal government released a statement on Monday backing the the Amaju Pinnick-led executive of the Nigeria Football Federation , Completesportsnigeria. com reports.

FIFA threatened to suspend Nigeria from all international competitions if Pinnick and general secretary, Mohammed Sanusi were not given back the effective control of he NFF and its offices by 12 noon today -Monday, August 20.

But football fans in the country can now heave a sigh relief following the statement released by Laolu Akande who is the Senior Special Assistant, media and publicity to vice-president, Yemi Osinbajo.

“The FG has already conveyed to FIFA its firm position recognizing Amaju Pinnick-led NFF as the current & only NFF Exco. Govt will also continue to work with all relevant stakeholders involved to resolve dispute in a timely manner. FG is upholding NFF treaty obligations to FIFA,” reads the statement on Akande’s Twitter handle on Monday.

FIFA is now expected to open a line of communication with Pinnick and Mohammed to get firsthand information on the situation and to know if they are firmly in control of the football house in Abuja.

It would be recalled that the world soccer ruling body last week turned down a request by Nigeria’s sports minister, Solomon Darlung to visit I office in Zurich, Switzerland to mediate on the crisis affecting the country’s football.

Fifa will no longer ban Nigeria according to scorenigeria.ng.
However, the timely intervention of the presidency was the reason we aren’t getting baned.Left for eccentric Dalung and unpatriotic Giwa we would have gotten Fifa’s hammer so let’s celebrate this victory because if reverse was the case a lot of us would have been gutted and talented talents coming through would have been lost and the rate of crime amongst jobless youths would be on the rise.
Meanwhile,we can now look towards the future with hope especially the good fortunes our footballers are having lately as we look forward to exciting and skillful newbies waiting to shoot us to greater heights.
    God bless Nigeria.

Solo Dalung, the so-called Minister of Sport should resign immediately or be fired by the President for dragging the Nigeria football to the mud and for his, above all, blind and tribal support for Chris Giwa who came from the same village near Jos.

Tribalism has no place in Football. This so-called Minister is now known as the worst Minister of Sport in Nigeria history. Solomon has completely lost his credibility with the FIFA and the National NFF. The main reason why should go.

The only pathetic thing is that the idiot has a good name ‘Solomon’…and the other buffalo…’Christopher’…
Sincerely, they both should be sentenced to death by hanging!!!

Solo should have been sacked a long time ago, especially after his Olympics shenanigans. A sports minister who said athletes should “find their way” to Rio, and should not expect transportation assistance. A sports minister who said if the U23 football team are having problems in Rio, that is not our business, to the point where Siasia has to go begging to feed the team. Imagine the embarrassment that would have occurred if Mikel had not stepped in! The man’s in-your-face nonchalance and incompetence is the stuff of legend. How he has remained in office all this while is unfathomable.
