FirstBank Basketball Club have qualified for the quarter-final stage of the ongoing 21st FIBA-Africa Champions Cup in Luanda, Angola, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The FIBA Zone Three champions defeated United States International University, (USIU) of Kenya 89-63 points on Tuesday to secure a quarter-final ticket.
The Elephant Girls were able to win first and second quarters with 21-12 and 18-10 points to end the first half with 39-22 points, while the second half saw the Nigerian girls losing the third quarter by 25-26 points.
They bounced back to win the fourth quarter with 25-15 before ending the game with 89-63 points victory.
Meanwhile, another Nigerian representative in the tournament, Dolphins Basketball Club, defeated Berco Stars 105-75 points to maintain their second place in Group A.
It was a game the Nigerian champions dominated in the later stages after their opponent showed good display in the first two quarters.
Dolphins who defeated Radi Basketball Club 65-57 on Monday to secure a quarter-final ticket, had an impressive game against Berco Stars Basketball Club after leading the first quarter with 24-18, lost the second quarter by 21-24 points margin to finish the first half with 45-42 points.
