FIFA Technical Study Group Hail Amuneke’s Eaglets Tactics

The FIFA Technical Study Group (TSG) have hailed the tactical savvy of the Golden Eaglets after their 3-0 semi-final win against Brazil. reports that Desmond Curry,  a member of the TSG, had sought out Amuneke to shed more light on his tactics which has confounded opposing teams at the Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup.

The Eaglets, according to Curry, have brought to bear a new trend with varied styles and deployment of players when ‘having or not having the ball,’ hence the need for clarification.

“Sincerely, we (TSG panel) have tried to understand the tactics you are using but it is confusing,” Curry told Amuneke.

“I have done some of your matches here but it is unusual to see a Number 10 (Kelechi Nwakali) playing deep as much as we have seen your player here.

“This is a new trend and we are going to include some of your explanations in the Technical Report of the championship because the tactical approach of your team stands out.”

The TSG was introduced 49 years ago by FIFA at the 1966 FIFA World Cup England and current Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh was on the panel at the last FIFA U-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.

The Eaglets will take on Mexico or Ecuador in Thursday's semi-final.

This is a very encouraging development on the part of coach Amuneke. Silent achiever. Great men don’t talk much. Didn’t have much faith in your tactical abilities initially. Now I know better. Hope other Nigerian coaches would henceforth talk less and follow in your foot steps. God bless.

Well done but needs to watch out against Mexico because they are out for revenga remember the eaglets has halt them twice. Best of luck man, god will see you through just 2 to write ur name in the history book.

  • Amuneke should give out his tactical whatever to this man after the tournament. Does FIFA want Nigeria’s opponents to make use of it against us? I know Mexico, Belgium and Mali will be eager to know it. We are not interested in their tactics. well done eaglets and Amuneke. We the fans are behind you and we are closely monitoring things here in Nigeria. the only issue here is the 4hrs time difference between Chile and Nigeria. many fans will still watch your matches, NEPA or no NDPH.

This is indeed a welcome development and applause for for Coach Emmanuel Amuneke. For FIFA Techical Study Group to align with your unique strategies in approching every game which seem to be difficult to predict is a plus factor for him. I wish Amuneke and Golden Eaglet success in their subsequent matches.

Amuneke: my advise is that you keep your plans and tactics to yourself. Don’t even reveal it to anyone after the competition. Or else, they will use it against you. They want to know how to win without developing the plans themselves. Let them develop their own plans. Coach, please don’t reveal your tactics to anybody.
